Problem
Sightglass Coffee wanted to create a café atmosphere and needed a durable, resilient flooring system that could incorporate colors chosen by corporate leadership.
The project planners required flooring that could be installed over the existing raised computer floor tiles and plywood substrate. Originally, they intended to use a poured and polished cement overlay, but due to a manufacturer shortage, they considered FloorPoxy Quartz flooring system, which offers more flexibility than a rigid poured cement overlay or traditional epoxy terrazzo.
Solution
Designers recognized the advantages of the FloorPoxy Quartz System, a poured-in-place quartz flooring solution that is resilient and offers a more natural appearance compared to terrazzo. Its benefits include enhanced ergonomics, durability, and noise reduction, making it ideal for high-traffic public areas such as the new café. FloorPoxy crews installed the new flooring, featuring a distinctive triangle pattern with
custom colors chosen by corporate leadership. The design creates a calming environment for clients and customers to work, socialize, and relax.
The installation process included a coat of FPX 1200 or Vapor Seal Epoxy Primer, followed by two coats of FPX 1200/3300/3100 Epoxy broadcasted with S Grade Color Quartz. A fill coat of FPX 3100/3300 was applied next. Optionally, a final topcoat of FPX 9510/9700 was added, with the recommendation to read individual product information sheets before deciding upon a system. Additionally, for an integral seal at the joint between the floor and the wall, FPX 3100COVE can be used, as detailed in the individual data sheet.
